— Why most small-business SEO fails
You've probably been burned before. Here's why.
If you've ever paid for SEO and watched nothing happen — you're not alone, and it probably wasn't your fault. Most small-business SEO fails for the same five reasons.
"They ranked us for keywords nobody searched."
Why it happens: Agencies pick easy-to-rank long-tail phrases so their reports look good. We pick phrases your actual customers type when they're ready to buy.
"The report looked great, but the phone stayed quiet."
Why it happens: Vanity metrics (impressions, "keywords on page 1") mean nothing if they don't convert. We report on real customer actions — calls, form fills, directions, reviews.
"They never fixed the website itself."
Why it happens: Most SEO agencies won't touch your code. We will. Half of SEO is technical: speed, schema, mobile, accessibility. If the site's broken, no amount of "optimization" saves it.
"It was all links and black-hat tricks."
Why it happens: Cheap SEO services often buy spammy backlinks that rank you for a month and get you penalized for a year. We do clean, durable, whitehat work that compounds.
"They promised page 1 in 30 days."
Why it happens: Anyone who promises that is lying or cutting corners that'll hurt you later. Real local SEO moves in 60–90 days and matures over 6–12 months.
"Nobody ignored Google Business Profile."
Why it happens: For most local businesses, GBP drives more traffic than the website. Agencies that only "optimize the website" miss the single biggest lever you have.
— Our methodology
Test. Tune. Track.
Three stages, in order. Skip one and the others don't work.
-
01
Test — Website & Local Audit
A deep one-time audit of your website, Google Business Profile, and local search presence. We examine speed, Core Web Vitals, on-page SEO, schema, mobile UX, accessibility, analytics setup, content gaps, competitor rankings, review profiles, citation consistency (NAP), and local pack positioning. You get a plain-English report with priorities — not a 60-page PDF nobody reads.
-
02
Tune — Fix the Foundation
We fix what's broken before we try to rank it. Technical SEO (speed, schema, crawlability), on-page optimization (titles, meta, H-structure, internal links), content (rewriting thin pages, keyword targeting, local signals), Google Business Profile setup and optimization, citation cleanup, and review-response systems. This is where 60–80% of the lift comes from — and most agencies skip it.
-
03
Track — Ongoing Management
Monthly keyword rank tracking, Google Business Profile management (posts, photos, Q&A, service updates), review monitoring and response drafts, Google Search Console monitoring, technical SEO maintenance, content refreshes, and quarterly strategic reviews. You see exactly what we did each month and what it moved.

— What to expect
An honest timeline. Month by month.
SEO is compounding, not instant. Here's what actually happens if we work together.
- M1
Month 1 — Audit & quick wins
Full website and local audit delivered. Easy technical wins shipped (schema, meta, internal linking, GBP basics). Rank-tracking baseline established. You won't "see" much yet — but the foundation is being laid.
- M2
Months 2–3 — Foundation live
Technical fixes complete, content refreshes published, GBP fully optimized, citations cleaned. First rank movement starts showing on target keywords. Google Business Profile impressions typically climb 30–50%.
- M4
Months 4–6 — Movement becomes results
Target keywords move into page-1 positions. GBP views and calls grow significantly. Reviews start accumulating from the systems we set up. Leads begin reflecting the work in a way you can feel.
- M6+
Months 6–12 — Compounding
Local pack positions solidify. Rankings on secondary keywords follow. Branded search grows. The work each month is smaller but results keep compounding. This is where SEO earns its reputation.

— Frequently asked
SEO, without the hand-waving.
How long until local SEO produces results?
Local SEO typically shows measurable movement within 60–90 days and meaningful business results within 6 months. Anyone promising first-page results in 30 days is either lying or using tactics that will damage your site later. We'd rather set honest expectations than sell you a quick fix that backfires.
Do I need a website audit before starting SEO?
Almost always, yes. Running SEO on a site with technical problems is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. A one-time website audit identifies the leaks so we know what to fix before investing in ranking.
What's included in Google Business Profile management?
Complete profile setup and verification, category and attribute optimization, weekly Google Posts, photo and service uploads, Q&A responses, review monitoring and reply drafts, and monthly performance reporting from GBP Insights. For most local businesses, GBP drives more traffic than the website itself.
Can you do SEO on a site you didn't build?
Yes. The majority of our SEO clients came to us with sites built elsewhere. We audit what you have, fix what we can without rebuilding, and recommend a redesign only when the site itself is blocking growth.
Are there long-term SEO contracts?
No. All three of our monthly plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract. Cancel any time. We earn the next month by delivering results this month — that's the only contract that should matter.
Do you do paid ads (Google Ads, Facebook Ads)?
We focus on organic local SEO and Google Business Profile. For paid advertising, we refer out to specialist partners whose entire business is PPC — and our SEO work makes their ads convert better when you run both.
Do you work with ecommerce or only local service businesses?
Our specialty is local SEO for service-area businesses and brick-and-mortar locations. We do on-page SEO for small ecommerce sites too, but true ecommerce SEO (product feeds, faceted navigation, Shopping Ads) is better handled by ecommerce specialists.
Let's get your phone ringing.
